Have you ever noticed that a man who is happily married keeps talking about how lucky he is to have ‘this woman’ as his wife, almost as though he doesn’t know what he did to deserve her? It seems that, to him, it was a miracle that she chose him over everybody else!
It might almost seem as though he puts her on a pedestal.
Would you feel great when someone puts you there? Of course you would. In fact, it feels so great, that you don’t even notice the danger at first. After all, ordinary people never end up on a pedestal – only the most extraordinary human beings have that privilege.
And so, at first you feel like an extraordinary person. But then reality kicks in. You are no more extraordinary than anybody else around you. Oh, God! What if he finds out?
And this is where it starts. You suddenly know that you need to become a superwoman! Stronger, tougher, smarter, better looking… Because you think this is why he keeps you there. Weakness? Crying? Fears? Non existent!
Years later, your back and legs are soar. Your chin, proudly protruded, has long since adopted an extra layer. Your shoulders are stiff and all you want is to step down and relax.
But can you afford to leave the pedestal empty? What if he puts someone else there?
